▸ Why This Role Exists Now
A data project for a Nordic banking customer is starting, and the delivery team is adding a business analyst for it from day one.
Job description
▸ Role / Mission
You sit between the bank's business teams (Risk, Finance, Compliance) and the data engineers. You turn what the business needs into data requirements and mappings, and check in the data that the result is right.
Typical use cases on banking projects like this one: bringing finance and risk data into a central data warehouse for regulatory reporting (Basel, IFRS 9), migrating source data with clear mappings, and defining the metrics that reports are built on.
By the end of the contract, your areas have documented requirements, mappings and metric definitions.
▸ Key Responsibilities
- Gather and document data requirements with the business owners
- Turn business rules and regulatory requirements into functional data specifications and mappings
- Query and profile the data in SQL to check the logic before and after it's built
- Keep data dictionaries, lineage and metric definitions up to date
- Prepare reports and analyses for senior stakeholders and present what the data shows
- Work with the data engineers and the data scientist on the project
▸ What This Role Is NOT
- Not a general IT or process analyst role. The work is about banking data.
- Not a hand-over-and-forget role. You check that what was built matches what was asked.
▸ Operating Model
- Remote. In the initial phase of the project, 1–2 days a week on-site in Prague for onboarding.
- Working language is English.
- You join a team of specialists on the project, working in an agile way, and report to the Head of Delivery.
Requirements
▸ What Matters Most
- 3+ years as a business or data analyst in banking or financial services, on the data side of loans, deposits, cards or mortgages
- Advanced SQL and data warehouse know-how: complex queries on large datasets, star and snowflake schemas, fact tables; Teradata is a big plus
- Regulatory data requirements: working knowledge of Basel, IFRS 9 or AML/KYC
- Fluent English, and the ability to present findings to business owners and senior management
Seniority is not a hard filter. If you've done the work, we want to hear from you.
▸ Nice to Have
- BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy or Cognos
- Credit risk data (PD, LGD, EAD), stress testing, BCBS 239
- Core banking platforms: Temenos, FIS, Finacle, Murex
- Python or R for analysis
- Data governance and master data management
Offer & Terms
- Rate: CZK 120,000–160,000 per month
- B2B contract, starting ASAP, six months, with possible extension
- 4–8 hours a day; part-time is possible, with flexibility on both sides
